Bizar, thuis, niet roeien. Maanden van trainen, ineens voorbij.
Een jaar geleden, de sluitingsceremonie van de Olympische Spelen van Beijing. Trots als een aap, maar ook met gemengde gevoelens liep ik door het Olympisch stadion. Midden in de arena van het atletiek dacht ik aan wat er de afgelopen jaren is gebeurd, van regio roeier tot Olympsich Atleet, maar ook wat aan komen zou. Roeien in een ander nummer, een plan maken, zoals ooit de Holland vier dat deed. Een eigen project, heerlijk.
Op een maandagavond, vandaag dus, ergens in Augustus blik ik terug op die dag, 365 dagen geleden. Bladerend door mijn iPhoto programma zie ik de duizenden beelden weer voor bij schieten, als een flits…. De Olympische droom was bereikt, voorbij! Tijd voor nieuwe dingen. Waarom ik vandaag maar eens het archief indook…? Juist ja het WK is aan de gang! Met een knoop in mijn maag keek ik vanochtend naar de Heats van de LM2x. Juist! daar hoorde ik samen met Jaap te liggen, gretig als een perfect lopende racemachine.
Oude en verse herinneringen doen mij denken aan hard racen, rossen tot je er bij neervalt. Het is nooit genoeg. Ook vandaag werd ik moe, in mijn hoofd, nadenken en terugdenken aan wat er allemaal gebeurd is de laatste 365 dagen.
Gisteren natuurlijk gekeken naar de schitterende start van Jaap, in de skiff. Na een harde start, duidelijk de race gedomineerd en zich geplaatst voor de halve finale. Knap, uniek en getuige van een buitengewone fysiek en mentaal kracht!
Bizar om thuis te zijn, iets wat niet past in je ritme, patroon en denken. Blij ben ik met mijn keuze van ruim twee weken geleden. Langzaam kom ik weer een beetje op krachten. Een race van 2000m is voor mij nu echt nog een stap te ver. Na de vakantie maken we weer plannen.
Deze week brengt nog een hoop moois.
