Wat een dag, heerlijke halen over de Rotsee!
Daar waar Lance Armstrong in het wielerpeloton de lakens uitdeelt, verliest Rabobank weer een belangrijke renner voor het klassement. Afgelopen zes weken is een hoop gebeurd, Nederlands Kampioen in de dubbeltwee, een goede tijd op de Holland Beker en grote stap in de techniek. Dit zijn toch wel de mooiste sportmaanden. Federer wint weer Wimbledon en is nu de beste tennisser aller tijden. Usain Bolt liep gisteren over de 200m weer snoeihard; 19,59….. Natuurlijk de Tour de komende weken, ik denk dat Astana de beste ploeg is waarbij ze drie troeven hebben voor het klassement. We zullen vrijdag zien hoe Armstrong en Contador de battle uitvechten richting Andorra.
Goed verder over het roeien. Heerlijk dus om weer in Luzern te zijn, gemoedelijke stad, lekker roeiwater en beide fit om hard te knallen. Het veld telt 22 boten, kortom dat is andere koek dan Banyoles. Vier heats waarbij alleen nummer 1 doorgaat naar de halve finale, de rest vaart de herkansing op vrijdagmiddag. Op de Holland Beker hebben we de basis gelegd voor een snoeiharde start. Zaterdag in het lichte veld lagen we na 100m al ruim voor, zondag, met meer tegenstand was dat moeilijker. Een tijd van 1.31 over de 1e 500m en vervolgens 3.08 over de km biedt perspectieven, daar we niet super weer hadden. Techniek, dat is de basis voor een goede dubbel, supergelijk, parallel. John die coacht ons daar voortdurend op, het gaat erg goed en we zijn zeer tevreden met de methodiek die de Engelsman toepast.
Goed om te vertellen is ook dat we een nieuwe, belangrijke sponsor hebben. Plantina, dezelfde sponsor van de legendarische Holland Vier, voorziet ons van alle broodnodige extra orthomoleculaire voedingspreparaten. Kortom daar zitten we niet meer om verlegen.
Nu ik toch bezig ben en er al weer een paar races achter de rug zijn, een korte update van Luzern tot dusver…
Heat, was een drama, slechte afstelling van de riemen en daardoor eigenlijk een prut race. Start was snel, maar kwamen daarna niet in een goed race ritme. Herkansing is altijd lastig, alles valt er te verliezen, kortom iedereen gaat ervoor. Na een zeer goede start wisten we de gehele race te overtuigen en iedereen ruimschoots voor te blijven. Morgen halve finale, hard aan de bak!

Zag er goed uit op worldrowing luzern, gaat steeds sneller en mooier dan dat het al ging. Veel succes voor de komende jaren. Wel jammer om te horen dat de boot niet zo lekker afgesteld was, volgende keer beter!

Lees net op NLRoei dat de 2x voor Poznan in de loods blijft liggen. En omdat alles wat in de krant / op NLRoei staat waar is, neem ik aan dat jullie het wijze besluit hebben genomen dat er nog genoeg tijd is voor Londen. Jaap: zet ‘m op en Paul: sc6 met herstel.
